The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) is an annual digital tournament organised by FIFA in cooperation with EA SPORTS™ and Sony PlayStation®. Hosted in a different city every year, it aims to find the best virtual football player in the world. As the biggest videogame tournament, the FIWC has made the Guinness Book of Records since 2010 with a whopping 10 million players in 2014 alone.

Circo organized the 2014 FIWC during the World Cup in Brazil. Our team faced the challenge of ensuring that the tournament would not fall in the shadow of the World Cup. Some might have worked around it – we made sure that the FIWC shared the spotlight amongst fans, creating mini-events at the most iconic football locations in Brazil, including the Copacabana fan zone and an epic finale at the summit of Corcovado, the famous lookout with breathtaking views of Rio.

The event aired on YouTube and was also watched by Brazilians on TV with over 2 million live views, while player and fan engagement topped the previous year’s record for a new entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
